Psychotherapy Services

In-Person

Our office is located conveniently on Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage, Long Island. We share a space with Metro Physical Therapy, which has a big sign right off the Turnpike. Metro Physical Therapy is also in big letters on the building itself. Our in-person therapy is more limited compared to our video therapy, but we will do our best to find you an appointment. Give us a call and let us see what we can do! Oftentimes, it can be helpful to start out virtually, and begin in-person when a slot opens up!

Virtual

At the heart of our service lies a deep commitment to making mental health care accessible. We understand that navigating technology can be daunting for some. That's why our dedicated team is at your side from the outset, guiding you through each step of the Telehealth process. Our support staff will assist you in familiarizing yourself with our user-friendly online portal. It's your personal space to complete your initial paperwork, and it is where you will have your video sessions. Experience the same benefits of our in-person sessions from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere. It's therapy that comes to you, wherever you are. If you're booking online, please select Telehealth.

**If you prefer, you can even set up an appointment without picking up the phone! You can schedule your first appointment using the button below. Then, we can send you an invitation via email so you can set up your online therapy portal, and you can input your insurance information through the online intake forms.

And for those who thrive on reflective exercises, your therapist can effortlessly send customized worksheets to you via the portal. Engage in self-assessments, submit essential documents, and find everything integrates without fuss, enriching your therapeutic experience.

Whether you are struggling with chronic stress, navigating a life change, or supporting a loved one through a difficult time, our licensed therapists, psychiatric nurses, and social workers are here to help.

We recognize that every person is unique — and so are the symptoms, behaviors, and emotional experiences that bring you to therapy. Our goal is to help you find a therapist who fits your needs, makes you feel comfortable, and provides personalized treatment options to help you heal, grow, and move forward.

Below is an overview of the specific issues and conditions we treat in our counseling practice.

ADHD

We support both adults and children with ADHD by improving focus, organization, and impulse control. Individual therapy can help you build structure, improve executive functioning, and develop lasting coping skills.

Aging

As we age, our emotional and physical needs shift. Therapy provides a space to process change, loss, and identity while maintaining daily functioning and quality of life.

Depression

We help clients identify patterns contributing to low mood and hopelessness. Our mental health professionals use cognitive behavioral techniques to support those dealing with depression and related mental illness.

Loss, Grief, and Bereavement

Grieving is deeply personal. Through compassionate talk therapy, we provide emotional support as you process grief, honor your experience, and begin to cope with your new reality.

Relationships

Whether you're seeking couples therapy or looking to improve connections with loved ones, we help you enhance communication skills, resolve conflicts, and build deeper, healthier bonds.

Anger Management

Learn how to manage emotional responses and develop healthier outlets. We work with you to understand triggers, improve emotional regulation, and build sustainable treatment plans.

Anxiety

From excessive worry to panic attacks, we help you understand and manage your anxiety. Many clients benefit from cognitive behavioral tools and mindfulness-based strategies during therapy sessions.

Bipolar Disorder

We offer long-term treatment for those living with bipolar disorder, helping stabilize mood changes and improve daily functioning through structured support and goal-oriented therapy.

Chronic Illness / Pain

Living with physical illness impacts your mental well-being. Therapy offers space to address the emotional toll of chronic health issues, so you can maintain hope, identity, and ability to function.

Life Stage Adjustments

From graduation to retirement, marriage to parenthood — we support clients navigating life’s transitions with clarity and resilience. Therapy helps reduce stress and build coping skills tailored to your phase of life.

Mood Disorders

Our team is experienced in treating a range of mood disorders beyond depression and bipolar disorder. We help you identify emotional patterns, adjust your mindset, and improve stability.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Through evidence-based psychotherapy, we help individuals with OCD understand compulsions, reduce intrusive thoughts, and regain control over their behaviors.

Phobias

Intense fears can interfere with daily functioning. We offer supportive, structured treatment options to reduce avoidance and improve confidence through exposure-based and talk therapy techniques.

Sexual and Gender Identity

We provide affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals exploring gender, sexuality, or identity-related challenges. Our trained professionals offer a nonjudgmental space for expression and growth.

Substance Use and Addiction

Whether you're in early recovery or long-term sobriety, our mental health professionals provide support for addiction, relapse prevention, and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Trauma

Past trauma can shape present thoughts, emotions, and actions. Our licensed therapists work to create a safe, supportive environment where you can heal, process, and rebuild.

FAQs

What should I be aware of before starting therapy?

Before starting therapy, it's important to be aware that progress often takes time and consistency. Therapy is a collaborative process, and being open and honest with your provider can lead to deeper insight and growth. It's also helpful to clarify your goals and expectations to ensure alignment with your mental health services provider.

What kind of training do your therapists have?

Our clinicians come from diverse clinical backgrounds and receive specialized training in evidence-based methods, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based techniques. All providers are licensed therapists, and many have additional certifications in specific treatment areas.

Do your therapists use different approaches depending on the client?

Yes. We believe therapy should be tailored to each person’s needs, which is why our clinicians use different approaches depending on your symptoms, history, and personal goals. This can include goal-oriented models, insight-based therapies, or integrative strategies for more complex issues.

How can therapy help me gain a better understanding of myself?

Therapy creates a safe space for reflection and dialogue, which fosters a better understanding of your emotions, behaviors, and patterns. Over time, this clarity can lead to stronger relationships, improved self-esteem, and better decision-making in your everyday life.

How do I know if a therapist accepts insurance?

We recommend contacting our office directly or checking your insurance provider’s directory to confirm whether a therapist accepts insurance. At Metro, we work with many major insurance plans and can verify your insurance coverage prior to scheduling.

What types of mental health services do you offer?

We provide a wide range of mental health services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, and family support. We also offer specialized treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and more — available both in-person and online.

Can you give an example of how therapy might help with a real-life issue?

Example: A client struggling with relationship conflict and job-related stress may learn new communication strategies, identify emotional triggers, and work with their therapist to set boundaries. Over time, this can reduce tension at home and increase satisfaction at work, creating a healthier emotional balance.
