Clinical FAQs

You can call our office at (516) 738-4844 and our Practice Administrator Kathy Thomas will help match you with the right therapist. You can also book directly through our website, where you can browse therapists and schedule your intake on the spot. Once you reach out, we can typically get you in within 36 hours — often sooner.
We typically start with weekly sessions. Frequency is adjusted over time based on your progress and what works best for you and your therapist.
Your intake session is a chance to share what's bringing you in, your history, and your goals. Your therapist will use that time to understand your needs and begin building a treatment plan with you.
Sessions are 53 minutes.
Find a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Please do not attend a session while driving, on public transportation, or in any public setting. Therapy works best when you're somewhere you'd feel comfortable saying anything — if you'd hesitate to share something because of where you are, that's a sign the location isn't right.
A computer or laptop is recommended. If one is not available, a phone or tablet can be used as well. Once your appointment is scheduled, you'll receive a reminder with a direct link to your video session. When joining for the first time, you'll be prompted to allow access to your microphone and camera — make sure to allow both so your session can begin without issues.
Our Practice Administrator Kathy Thomas can walk you through everything step by step. We can even set up a brief trial session so you can get comfortable with the platform before your first appointment. Just call our office at (516) 738-4844.
No. Our clinicians do not prescribe or manage medication. If medication is something you'd like to explore, we're happy to help coordinate a referral to a prescribing provider.
Yes. Everything discussed in your sessions is confidential. There are a few legal exceptions — such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or a court order — which your therapist will review with you at your first appointment. Our clinicians are trained to navigate these situations with care and clinical nuance, and will always work with you through any concerns before taking action.
Therapy can be helpful for anyone navigating a difficult time, working through a specific challenge, or wanting to better understand themselves. If you're not sure, reach out — we're happy to help you figure out if we're a good fit.
It depends on your goals. Some people benefit from a few months of focused work, while others prefer longer-term support. Your therapist will work with you to find the right pace.
Yes. We do our best to match you with the right clinician based on your needs, preferences, and availability. You're also welcome to request a specific therapist.
Yes, at any time. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential — if it's not the right fit, we'll help you find someone on our team who is.
We work with adolescents ages 13 and up, and adults of all ages.
We currently serve clients located in New York State. Because we are a telehealth practice, your therapist must be licensed in the state where you are located at the time of your session.
Yes. All therapists are available through secure messaging on our client portal. Therapists respond when available, so we ask for your patience. For anything time-sensitive, please call our office at (516) 738-4844 during office hours. Portal messaging is intended for scheduling, administrative questions, and homework-related follow-ups — it is not a substitute for a session and should not be used to seek emotional support or clinical guidance between appointments.
Yes. All intake documents must be completed before your first session. You'll receive access through our client portal after scheduling.
